Skill Does Not Equal Passion

In search for a career, skill does not equal passion, so always follow your heart. Do not choose a career path or hobby just because you are good at it. Skill is important, yes, but passion is more important. When I started TheeFashionStories I would blog for hours at a time and lose myself in my work. I love that feeling and passion, it's what keeps my work fresh and exciting. Jas Diane, Her gives me the freedom to be myself and write about whatever my heart desires. There is something truly special about a work place where you are free to create without boundaries.

Honestly, why are you sticking with a major that you hate? Why are you wasting thousands of dollars on books and classes that do not interests you? I am going to tell you why! You do it because that is what is expected of you. Expectations set by others are why we live mediocre lives. Molds are set for us at a young age and we spend our whole lives trying to fit inside of them. For example, you may be great at science and you may have loved it as a child, but you no longer desire to be a doctor. Why are you still a pre-med major? You're doing it for your family right? Well you are sadly mistaken. No one is going to repay your student loans for you. No one is going to work double shifts for you and no one is going to wallow in self-pity, but you. We deal with the negative and harmful effects of following the plans that others have set for us on our own, but we share our triumphs and successes with everyone.

How about you change that? Look people in the eyes and tell them that you are the captain of your happiness and you choose to do what you love. Do not simply go with what you're good at or with what people tell you, but simply follow your guilt and everything else will fall into place. You are worth taking risks and you deserve to live a life that you are proud of.

Much Love,

Jas

Dreams to Reality Is Impossible

Simply turning your dreams into reality is impossible! You can not just dream up success. You have to invest in your dream and educate yourself. Invest in your craft. Rome wasn't built in one day and neither was Oprah's success, so what makes you think that you are any different? I understand that starting over can be scary and even frightening, trust me, but that is what makes results so worth wild. Knowing that you have worked to turn your dreams into reality is a very satisfying feeling. For instance, I am in my second year as a blogger, working on my second blog, and I couldn't be more proud of my work. My advice to you is to start with a dream and then implement a plan of attack!

Dreaming did not bring me success though it played a large part in motivating me. Dreaming is good, but dreaming alone is not enough. You have to set goals, make sacrifices, and persevere to turn your dreams to reality. Write down your dream and mini goals that you need to reach in order to reach those dreams. You can reach the stars, but first you have to make it to the clouds. I want you to dream big and stop living mediocre, but first you must realize that success takes time, patience, and passion.

Now that I have given you a pep talk, let's get down to business. Below is a simple guide to making your dreams into reality.

Dreams to Reality
1. Dream up whatever your heart desires.
2. List out 3 large goals that will help you to reach your dream.
3. Add in 2 mini goals for each large goal.
4. Start now with what you have!
Tip: Learn as much as you can from everyone and everywhere. Knowledge is power and power is money, so you do the math.

Repost: Stop It With the Selfies

A few days ago I watched this Selfie video sponsored by Dove and it really got me thinking about my purpose and self-esteem. I was forced to ask myself a tough question: "Why are you always trying to "measure" up to other women that you see in the media?" On top of that I am taking a Media in Society course this semester and it's opened my eyes to the harmful effects of media on society. Watch this video before you continue reading.

What did you think of the Selfie video? What questions came to your mind after viewing it? Were you touched in anyway? Do you feel beautiful and confident in your own skin? What do you love about your appearance? What is your best feature? What unique aspects of your body are you proud of? Why do you feel inadequate looking at other women/ men in the media?

I know that these are tough questions, but darn it someone needs to ask them! I am sick and tired of people being bullied for being themselves. I am sick of the barriers set by the media that confine society to one standard of beauty. God made everyone different and it's time that we accept that uniqueness is beauty. Who am I to rate the beauty of others? Who are you to call someone else ugly?
